Santorini1  Santorini7  Santorini5

Today is Santorini. We got up and exercised (’Nette did), had breakfast and then headed off to Santorini around 9:30 a.m. The boat anchored, so we tendered to the dock where we started our upward hike to the city. We decided to walk up and it was quite a walk. It was the donkeys’ road also, so it smelled terrible and the day was very hot. Some of the others took the tram to the top.

I overheated (dehydrated) on the way up to the top, so I just sat in the shade for over an hour and slowly drank some Gatorade while Annette shopped and checked on me about every 15 minutes. Once I started feeling better, we ate some gyros, had a smoothie, and then headed back down the smelly hill.

On the way down, an older lady fell from exhaustion. Another man helped me help her the rest of the way down.

After getting to the boat, we crashed in our room for awhile. After dinner, we played Rook with the Braters for an hour or so and then we had to check out the Black and White Officers Ball. We stayed for the introductions and then went to bed.

  1. Boy sounds like you had fun.

Now I don’t feel so bad trying to climb inspiration point at the Grand Tetons National park. I quit because my heart was pounding hard, pulse rate was around 190’s -200. Brad quit because he was plain wore out, we found out later he actually had a fever, and it was soooo Hot outside. So I am sure we were both dehydrated

  2. The picture of Annette standing in front of the white wall is beautiful (second from top). It looks as thought the entire city is white. Do they paint it white? or is this the standard stone color?

  3. I think it is painted white. I didn’t learn much here. I was too busy catching my breath.
