Maybe I’m really dense, and everyone else always noticed this in Isaiah 53:4-5. But, through the message in church last night, I received another glimpse of God’s love, Christ’s sacrifice, and my sin. Think about this paraphrase (I am taking out the collective plural pronoun and replacing it with a personal singular pronoun). And… yes, it is a paraphrase, please don’t condemn me. I’m not claiming that this is Scripture.
- Surely he hath borne my griefs, and carried my sorrows: yet I did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded because of my transgressions, he was bruised because of my iniquities: the chastisement of my peace was upon him; and with his stripes I am healed.
Maybe you’ve always seen this in these verses, but I hadn’t. This blessed me significantly.
Thanks for that testimony. I love Isaiah and have started a series in it on Sunday AM I am thoroughly enjoying.
