“It’s quite true some children are more verbal than others. This means some children will naturally be quiet and yet be quite content. But there are many times when a child is not communicative with parents, not because of a natural disposition but because something is wrong. This quiet might be because they are afraid of the conversation turning into something else, like a quarrel, or they are afraid of their parents knowing about what is distressing them. This might be the result of shame, fear, or despair.
“Not all children talk all the time, but all children are thinking about something all the time. If this is the case–and there are truly deep waters in a child’s soul–parents have to be careful not to demand the child open up. It doesn’t work that way.” (My Life for Yours, p. 127)
Simply out of curiosity, why are all the posts from what you’re reading from the same page? That’s a lot of thoughts for one page!

I’m simply copying a certain section of this book that had lots of short little segments on various topics of childrearing. If you look back at them they are working their way up. Sometimes three posts per page sometimes just one.
