In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him: (Esther 1:3)
So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign. (Esther 2:16)
Whenever I stop to consider chronology in the Bible, I’m often reminded that a thousand years and one day are alike to God. Sometimes so many things happen in one day that it seems impossible to comprehend (yet we believe it because it is in the Bible). But most of the time I am surprised to see how long it is between events in the Scriptures. We read the stories in the Bible, and put all the events within the timeframe that it takes us to read it. But most of the time, it’s not that way. For example, it took Ahasuerus four years to find himself a wife.
On a side note, young men might find a wife like Esther, if they’d take the years Ahasuerus did to find her. 🙂

Wow! I never knew it was that long in between!! maybe you are right about the whole guys waiting thing… especially around here! : )
I can’t help but agree with Rachel. I think girls can stand to wait a little longer than a semester or two before they decide they’ve found their life’s mate, too.

I edited this before and I am trying to say this in tactful way. If what you say is true, then how do you justify dating the same person for over three years before you marry her? It doesn’t appear there was much looking around to me? It was more waiting for graduation day to come.
First, the sidenote was intended to be a bit humorous. But, there is truth in humor also.
Second, all my belief about life were not formed when I was 19. Hopefully, I have learned many things since then.
I’m sorry I offended you, you just made it sound like that was what you did. Feel free to delete my comment, I don’t mind :0)
I noticed a lot of commentary for this one post. You mean that this subject interests people?
