Getting There

June 10-11, 2007

We got to the airport with plenty of time. Got our Ricobene’s on the way and one to eat later on the plane. The security line was forever long.

Because of some trouble checking in, we got upgraded to World Traveller Plus on British Airways. The seats were bigger and had foot rests and lots of room in front of us as we were in the front of the section. The flight was long but good food and I was able to sleep most of the flight. We left Chicago at 4:40 p.m. and arrived in London about 6:30 a.m.

Big BenAround 10:30 a.m., we met up with the Mitchells and headed out to see the town. We took the tube to the Cabinet War Rooms and Churchill Museum and then bought some sandwiches from a little corner store. Kara got her picture with Big Ben, and then we got back on the tube to go to the Tower of London.

We were very tired by the time we left there at 4 p.m. or so. We took the tube back to the airport. It was so crowded. We were standing extremely smashed together. London TubeOnce back at the airport, we retrieved our backpacks which we had checked into “Left Luggage” (so we didn’t have to carry them around town).

Our flight didn’t leave until 8:55 p.m., so we had 2 1/2 hours to relax and eat. Believe it or not, Jerry ate his food quicker than I did. We were slightly upgraded for this flight also (leather seats).

  1. Annette? Blogging? I quit.

Wait a second! How many vacations will you be taking. Or are you coming back? Or are you going and then coming back?

    World Travellers. Humph.

  2. She’s not blogging. I’m just typing up her “journal” of our trip. Lots of people have asked about it and I thought this would be a good way to talk about it and post some pictures. That’s why I put the date at the beginning of the post. I found a few more pictures that I can add to this one. I’ll put them in later tonight.

  3. PV you did get her permission to blog her journal right? She could make you chase her for your food. Ha Ha

  4. Well, I’m keeping the journal. But in the negotiations, I agreed to make myself the speaker and edit the writing. At least I have something to start from. It was also a good thing I had my lawyer with me to help at the bargaining table. I almost had to part with my own arm to get what I wanted!
