Athens, Corinth & the ms Prinsendam

June 12, 2007

AthnsAcropolis14We arrived in Athens at 3:00 a.m. It was about a four hour flight and we both slept okay.  Our luggage all arrived safely, although we found out later that my parents’ luggage never did. We got to the hotel at 4:00 a.m. At 9:00 a.m. we all left to do sightseeing in Corinth and Athens. (All is Gauses, Bradys, Armacosts, Kenderdines, Mitchells, Braters, us, and my parents).

AthnsAcropolis19 The first place we went was the Athens Acropolis and the ancient ruins from the Greek civilization, including the Parthenon (a temple). We also climbed up Mars Hill, which is where Paul spoke to the philosophers in Acts 17.

CorinthCanal2 Then we drove to Corinth and saw the canal which was built before the time of Paul and had no water in it in ancient times. They rolled the boats from the Ionian Sea to the Aegean Sea. Then we continued to ancient Corinth and saw the ruins of the ancient town. Afterwards we ate  delicious authentic gyros.

Then we were off to the ship. We happened to be the first ones from our group on–very nice! Our room was very small. Two twin beds in a “L” shape. No windows or anything, but very comfortable. We self-toured the boat and went to a very nice dinner at 6 p.m. After dinner, Annette bought her souvenir from the ship store–a very nice zip-up, hooded, sweatshirt. Annette did a lot of ironing because we can’t iron in our room. Then we went on an evening stroll around the promenade before going to bed for the night.
