Advanced Biblical Studies Requirements — 2007

A.    Text:  Chronological Aspects of the Life of Christ – This is not a text per se; it is required reading, and you will be held responsible for details from the book.

B.     Outside Work:

·      Book Critique – Chronological Aspects of the Life of Christ – due November 2.

·      Class Presentation

v    Minimum 100 pages of reading (use index of Edersheim, etc.)

v    Minimum 10 minutes of presentation, discussion

v    Generally, any topic relating to customs in biblical times – topic due by end of first class – samples:

ØSynagogue

ØSanhedrin

ØGreek culture

ØSeptuagint

ØNT High Priestly office

ØPharisees

ØSadducees

ØScribes

ØHerodians

ØHerod’s Temple

ØZealots

v    Presentation due after lunch on last day of class.

C.     Grading:         

Critique – 25%         

Presentation – 25%         

Tests – 50% (final is worth twice as much as every other test)                    

All tests, and work is due November 2, twelve weeks from the last day of class.  Anything not in my office on this day must be postmarked with this date.  All work received after this date will receive a zero.
