Solving Problems

I Wish All Problems Would Be So Simple

Everyone concentrates on the problems we’re having in this country lately —

1.  (a) Illegal immigration, (b) Hurricane recovery, (c) Alligators attacking people in Florida

……… not me — I concentrate on solutions for the problems — it’s a win-win situation.
    * Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border.
    * Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levees.
    * Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.

Any other problems you would like for me to solve today? Yes !
    Think about this:
    2. Cows
    3. The Constitution
    4. The Ten Commandments

2.  COWS

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow..

3.  THE CONSTITUTION

They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq …. why don’t we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we’re not using it anymore.

4.  THE 10 COMMANDMENTS

The real reason that we can’t have the Ten Commandments posted in a court house is this — you cannot post ‘Thou Shalt Not Steal’ ‘Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery’ and ‘Thou Shall Not Lie’ in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians … it creates a hostile work environment.

  1. I don’t appreciate your illegal immigrant jokes. My husband is one. He was brought here when he was a teenager by his parents and yes he is still roaming in your United States of America. Yes, it is wrong for them to come over here illegally but not ALL of them are at fault, such as was his case as he was a minor brought here by his parents. Also, they came here to TRY to have a better life then the one they had in their own country because of a President that stole the country’s funds, among other things. Alot of them, if not all of them do it to survive and make a living for their families. Some men have not seen their children grow up, go to their first day of kindergarten, become a teenager etc. I think that if I was in a country where the situation was so bad that what I made in wages for one day didn’t even cover my transportation costs for that day maybe I would have to take drastic measures to feed my family too. Most of them are very hard workers who will work for less money and that is why you may see them getting picked for jobs more often then your own Unites States citizens. So please, before thinking it is hilarious to have alligators or crocodiles in a deep trench to catch or scare the immigrants that come over here looking for a better life, try and be a little more compassionate and speak like an adult. Thank you.

    1. Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for your comments. They represent a real situation in my own (and I think it is yours too) United States.

I’ve learned to laugh at preacher jokes, music man jokes, bald guy jokes and a lot of other good-natured humor directed towards me.

Maybe you could learn to laugh at yourself too. That’s what adults do.

      Sincerely,

  2. Very funny!!! I have no problem with people coming to my United States to get a better life for their family. There are a multitude of opportunities for anyone to succeed. There’s no need to be here illegally. Learn the language and become a citizen.

    1. Clarboe91,

Believe me, if it were as easy as you think it is for them to be here legally they would be. Obviously you have no clue how much a Mexican citizen has to go through to even get approved, one of the biggest requirements is to have a certain sum of money in their bank account to be able to get a visa. If you had read my posts you would see that the people that come here are the people who work everyday but sometimes don’t even make enought money to cover transportation costs. It’s always good to be informed of certain situations before you go blurting out facts that are far from the truth. That would be awesome if one could become a citizen by learning the language but that’s not the case and obviously you didn’t know that.

      1. Stephanie,

I understand that it costs a lot for anyone to come to America, not just Mexicans. I also know that last I had heard, it costs around $500 to start the citizenship process. I wasn’t going off half-cocked when I made my comments. I do understand what needs to be done, but, I also know that there is a way to do it right and it should be done that way. The USA is the land of the free and I believe that anyone should have the right to be here. When you went to Mexico with your family, you went there legally, you learned the language, you acclamated yourselves to the Mexican culture. All I’m saying is that anyone that wants to come to the United States of America should do the same.

      2. clarboe91,

You heard wrong about the cost of the start of the citizenship process, I would know because I am going through it and have helped people with the process. If you think you are very well informed though then I will let you keep on believing that. I don’t want to be rude but when I am going through it and have seen it over and over again I guess I just get a little irked with information that is not true. I will stop arguing with you after this point because I don’t like to argue over “hear-say”

        Stephanie

  3. Pastor Voegtlin,

I really did not mean to be disrespectful but for some reason I have no desire to laugh at those kind of jokes. I do consider this my country but I think alot of people pound themselves on the chest about how “proud” they are of their country when in reality it is down the drain. I think having illegal immigrants is a very minimal problem compared to all the other problems our country has. I honestly did not mean to be disrespectful in any way, I was just giving my opinion. I will say though that I don’t consider that laughing at such jokes is acting as an adult, I respect your opinion though. Thank you for responding.

    Stephanie

  4. Stephanie,
A joke is called a joke for a reason. ITS NOT SERIOUS! Oh, by the way, when you break the law, there is no justification for that, period.

  5. The immigration problem has been around long enough that it’s more complicated than short little statements and quick witted humor can address. While Stephanie’s husband is illegal, he did nothing really to get himself into that position. His parents did. So now he’s here, he has a job, he has a wife, children… As Christians, we wouldn’t think it is the best thing to split up this family. As good-hearted Americans, we probably wouldn’t say he should move his whole family (all of which are Americans except him) back to Mexico and begin the emigration process. But we have to deal with these issues somehow. The immigrants (legal or illegal) that are obeying our day to day laws and contributing to our society and culture are a much smaller problem than the drug cartels that use illegal immigrants to smuggle drugs, etc. into our country. I don’t have the answers, but I do think about these things….maybe I think too much 🙂

  6. I probably think too much, too, though I have a tendency to internalize things and take them personally. I agree with you, DrV. Well said!
