Antalya

We got up late so we skipped breakfast. Everyone was getting off the ship at Antalya, so we decided to try out the pool. It was very warm, but salt water. It tasted disgusting and burned your eyes.

We had lunch at 11:30 a.m. and then went to town. It was a very neat old town. We walked around for awhile, had some chocolate and a sandwich and went back to the boat. It was very, very hot.

Some of the others went to Perga and saw the ancient city there. They came back saying that it was the best ruins they had seen on the trip so far. The taxi drivers in Turkey are something to talk about too, I understand. We actually rode the bus into town, but some of the others used a taxi. Jerry tried to talk to their driver by looking on into the driver’s speaking dictionary. He actually asked him, “howareszhoo”  —  then he realized he was reading what the taxi driver would have tried to ask him in English! It was pretty funny when he told us this story.

We decided to do room service for dinner tonight: French onion soup, salad, and sandwiches.
