Summary

On one mission, I had just entered the turret and put on my headset when I heard the pilot say, “After stations, snap on your parachutes.”  I immediately started to get out of the turret, and for some reason I couldn’t make it through the small opening.  I prayed to the Lord to get me out of it and into the body of the plane and I would serve Him the rest of my life, which could have been the next five minutes or how ever long He would have me to live.  Through the years, I have tried to do this in many ways and no doubt could have done more.  He has blessed me with a wonderful family, Carolyn Jane, born May 12, 1944; Sharon Jean, born August 13, 1949, and Raymond Charles, born January 1, 1954.  Lucille and I have had 63 years of life together.  We have a song, “Each for the Other,” which expresses this better than I can, and we sung this song in October, 2003, at our Jolly 60’s program.

Robert C. Binkley

Each for the Other

Darling the day has come that we’ve been dreaming of

Sixty three years ago we said our vows of love

Oh, what a happy time all gone the doubt and fear,

And with the promises we’ll add this one, my dear.

Each for the other and both for the Lord,

Oh, darling sweetheart let the angels record;

Vows sweetly spoken may they never be broken,

Each for the other and both for the Lord

We walked together Love, thru sunshine, thru the shade,

We mingled tears and smiles and traveled unafraid;

Halos of happiness have crowned each passing day

Till Heaven shines ahead and beckons us away.

Each for the other and both for the Lord,

Oh, darling sweetheart let the angels record;

Vows sweetly spoken may they never be broken,

Each for the other and both for the Lord.
