There are three God-ordained institutions in the world (home, government, and church).
- Home (Genesis 1)
- Husband
- Wife
- Children
- Father (parents)
- Church (Matthew 18, Acts 2 🙂
- Pastors
- Deacons
- Members
- Government (Genesis 9)
- Rulers
- Citizens
As a Christian, there is a proper way to fulfill the role that each of us has in each institution.
Government in books of the Bible
- Genesis
- Exodus
- Numbers
- Joshua
- Judges
- Samuels
- Kings
- Chronicles
- Ezra-Nehemiah
- Daniel
Government workers (politicians) in the Bible
- Abraham (Terah)
- Joseph
- Moses
- Joshua
- Every single Judge
- Samuel
- Saul
- David
- Solomon
- Daniel
- Nehemiah
Some direct governmental statements in the Bible
- Genesis 9:5-6
- Numbers 11:16-30, Exodus 18:13-26, (Deuteronomy 1:9-18)
Some implied governmental statements in the Bible
- Isaiah 33:22 (foundational to America’s separation of powers)
- God uses government(s) to fulfill His will
- God used many different governmental officials in Paul’s life
- Some punished him
- Many helped him once they found out that he was a Roman citizen
- Paul used his Roman (empire) citizenship for his and thus, Christ’s advantage
- As an American individual, how much have you used your US (democratic-republic) citizenship for yours and Christ’s advantage
The Intersection of Family and Government
- True government is made of families (OT example)
- The better the families of a country, the better the government of that country
- What if we lose what we have?
- What were families able to do before America?
- What are families able to do outside America today?
- European socialism
- Chinese communism
- African tribalism
- Without the interference of responsible, Godly Christians, America will be one of those or some mixture of them sooner than we think
- In America (democratic-republic), the better the people (come from families) involved in government, the better the government
- Your family and our government
- teach your children what Christians should think about current issues
- teach your children how to think like a Christian about current issues (not moral, nor conservative, Christian–comes from the Bible)
- you have to know this and do it yourself to be able to do it
- remember and bring to bear on the present our history and Godly heritage
- have gov’t officials to your house 1-2 times a year (include 1-2 other families)
- attend fundraisers for local candidates when they fit your schedule
- make them a part of your family calendar
- discuss before and/or after, the office and what the candidate said about it
- become a precinct committeeman (some here should consider this)
